A brief tour of the new site
My last two months at ELC weren’t terribly productive in terms of ELC-related work, but I did use the time wisely. I was cooking up Burnblue v4, which you see here today. Initially I just wanted to move my site onto a CMS, or Content Management System, to make it easier to maintain. Of course, one thing led to another and I ended up with a total re-design! Not only is posting new content much simpler, but I’ve added a few AJAX goodies, thanks to the jQuery library.
I took the opportunity to improve the photo galleries. Where before everything was launched in a lightbox-style panel, the galleries are now much more cohesive and organized. More importantly, your browser’s back and forward buttons and bookmarking now work for individual images.
Sharper eyes will have noticed there is now a drop down price menu below each photo in the galleries. I have integrated a PayPal shopping cart for image purchasing - if you would like to buy prints, it has never been easier! Just select the size you want in the dropdown and pay using PayPal. You don’t even need an account.
The artwork section got a similar treatment to photos, just without the purchase now option. The sketchbook from my trip around the world is still there:
Last but not least, I added a snazzy new Design section with examples of my work. I am back in the job market after a great run with ELC Technologies - do get in touch if you need design work or know of a company who does.
Take a look around, and don’t forget to let me know what you think of the new site!
